A Letter of Love

A Letter of Love (for a baby) by Fleur Hoole

Contributed by Fleur Hoole

When a couple in our family lost their much-anticipated, beloved baby at birth, I wrote them a little poem in the style of a letter, which I am sharing in the hope that this will bring a little comfort to other families facing a similar, devastating bereavement.

As a mum who has faced my own losses, I wanted to acknowledge the connection and hope that parents have for their baby during pregnancy and recognise their precious baby’s lasting importance in their family, whilst also holding space for the depth of their anguish.

Although I’m using the name Robin for this audio clip – any name could be used to recognise the enduring love of a family for their baby.
