Naming Ceremonies | Funerals and Memorials

Based in the North East of Scotland, I specialise in delivering funeral services when you have lost a loved one and Naming Ceremonies when you have a new child in your family.

Every service and ceremony I compile and deliver, is very much tailored towards your wishes and while they are generally non religious, recognition of belief can be included.

By discussing what kind of service or ceremony you want, I ensure each one is specific.  My funeral services are specifically person centred and focus on the life of you loved one, while my Naming Ceremonies are very much based around your hopes for and promises to the new child in your family.

I believe in creating ceremonies that are authentic, unique and memorable. I want you to be a part of your ceremony, not just a witness to it. This can be achieved through the use of activities or rituals. These might be ancient customs such as exchanging rings or lighting a candle. They might be something bespoke, designed to be sincere, heartfelt and truthful to your story.

Helensburgh, Lomond, Argyle and Bute, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, Paisley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling, Aberdeen, Dundee, West of Scotland, Perth, Highlands and Islands

My name is Reverend Jean Thomson and I am a  Ceremonialist and Interfaith Minister operating throughout Scotland. My aim is to create personal, meaningful, memorable ceremonies, filled with love, be that welcoming new life, entering marriage or saying a sad but fond farewell to a loved one. It is a privilege to get to know couples and families and work with them at both the happiest and saddest moments in their lives. The common thread that runs through all my ceremonies is that they are crafted with love, authentic and tailor made.

As a minister with the Open Sanctuary I am authorised by the Registrar General to conduct legal weddings anywhere in Scotland, indoors or outdoors. One of the blessings we receive as Ministers in the Open Sanctuary is when we are invited to honour key points in peoples lives by creating and delivering weddings, funerals, baby naming ceremonies  and other rites of passages.

Ceremonies are conducted according to the beliefs of the couple and the families, or none if that is the case. It is your ceremony….your way. It isn’t about me or my beliefs, so you don’t need to worry about adhering to the beliefs of the officiant.
