    Emily Porth‘s biography

Hello! My name is Emily (she/her) and I offer bespoke ceremonies for people who feel a spiritual connection with nature.

Originally from Canada, I grew up where the prairies meet the Rocky Mountains. I completed undergraduate and master’s degrees in Anthropology and went on to earn a doctorate in Environmental Studies from York University in Toronto. I moved to the UK for love in 2015 and now live in beautiful Midlothian with my family.

Meeting new people, hearing their stories, and finding ways to bring heartfelt magic into their rite of passage truly brings me joy. In my work as a celebrant, I use the curiosity, listening, writing, and presenting skills I honed throughout my career as an anthropologist, and combine them with more than 20 years of experience writing, leading, and holding sacred space for group ceremony in my own Earth-based spiritual tradition.

I follow a nature-based spiritual path and am proud to be able to perform legal marriages in Scotland as a celebrant approved by the Scottish Pagan Federation. However, your ceremony will be completely bespoke and written to reflect your story as a couple and the spiritual connection that you feel with nature, regardless of how you define or describe that.

LEGAL MARRIAGE AUTHORISING BODY : Scottish Pagan Federation

I am authorised to conduct legal marriages as a celebrant with the Scottish Pagan Federation, which is recognised by the Registrar General. This authorisation is separate from my SICA membership.

I am based in Loanhead, Midlothian and work across the greater Edinburgh area and beyond. I am happy to travel to your perfect ceremony location, and to conduct ceremonies outdoors.
