Eric McGirr‘s biography
Having spent the majority of my life in Livingston, I now live in Uddingston, with my fiancee Claire, and our son Hamish, who is 7.
For the past 23 years, I have dedicated myself to serving as a full-time firefighter across Central Scotland and West Lothian. This rewarding career has granted me the honour of assisting people during their time of need, which resonates deeply with my role as a Celebrant.
My journey to becoming a Celebrant began with the passing of my beloved mum, Janet. During that difficult time, my family and I came together to provide her with a warm and dignified send-off that emphasized celebrating her life, just as she had planned and desired. I believe this approach helped us during our most challenging days.
In my role as a Celebrant, my aim is to lift some of the burden that can envelop families during their time of loss. By working with families & their friends, I strive to create a ceremony that not only enables them to say goodbye in their way, but also one that celebrates their loved one’s life.
