SICA member Thomas Baxter
Thomas Baxter‘s biography
I originally trained with the International College of Professional Celebrants and have worked as a full-time Celebrant ever since. Recently, I have done further study and am a member of the Open Sanctuary, and having successfully passed my course work, am now authorised by the Registrar General of Scotland, through the Open Sanctuary, to perform full legal marriages on a ceremony-by-ceremony basis.
Celebrancy is something I have come to later in life and found I have both a great passion and a natural ability for. I have spent most of my life working in public services, whether as General Manager in major West End Theatres, running my own restaurant in the Highlands, or as General Manager of Glamis Castle. All of these positions have offered unique experiences which I have taken with me and utilised to great effect as a celebrant.
A marriage ceremony should be heartfelt, touching and reflect the love you feel for your partner and calls for a ceremony that has been created with your full input, is about you, and is for you. We can personalise the vows, add readings, involve family members, and add extra little ceremonies like handfasting, or jumping the swords, to make the ceremony more unique to you.
Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy and the grief you feel can be overwhelming. I will sit down with you at a place and time of your choosing to create a ceremony that truly reflects the values and wishes of your loved one, and ensure we capture their true essence. I believe a funeral should be a celebration of life, with light and shade, and together, we will ensure that your loved one receives a memorable and compassionate goodbye.
