Many of my funerals are in Edinburgh and many have involved individuals who were born and brought up in the Leith area. They are fiercely proud of this and consider themselves ‘Leithers’ over belonging to Edinburgh. Leith has gone through many changes over the years and I think this poem by Don Ledingham reflects those changes and epitomises what Leith means to those who grew up there.
